Reminds me of a driving trip I started, years ago. Mother Nature saw me off with snow and freezing rain, so I had the headlights, fan, rear defroster and radio all running. The voltage regulator in the alternator couldn’t take it and failed. Whenever I accelerated after that, it jumped the voltage charging the battery for about 14 to over 18: rough on the lights and battery but not enough to ruin anything else before it got fixed when I got home. But the defroster would heat up faster!
I got a remote car starter for that very reason. My heater is on all the time in the winter so when the car warms up it is already blowing hot air and defrosting the windshield by the time I come out to go to work. Best thing I ever bought before leaving Best Buy.
Had that same conversation with my parents on many winter mornings, now I am having it with my son!
Not me. In my day, I walked fifty miles to school in a blizzard every day. Yes, it was uphill both ways.
